Coaching & Therapy
In life, you go through different seasons. There are beautiful periods where you enjoy life and everything feels in balance, and there are times when you face difficult situations that can make you feel sad, angry, or misunderstood. When you’re going through such a challenging and tough period, it can be helpful to walk together for a while and regain hope and trust.
You can see me for integrative, psychosocial coaching and therapy. Coaching, when you want to take steps to develop skills in resilience and personal growth. Or therapy as well, when you wish to dive deeper to gain more insight into the underlying causes of your problems and work towards greater wholeness and healing. Welcome to Practice Tembi! I look forward to meeting you and walking alongside you for a while, so you can discover more resilience and freedom and explore new paths.
Tembi
The South African Xhosa name ‘Tembi’ means HOPE — to fully live your life, trusting that you are on the right path. When you live each day with hope and trust, you can endure a lot. At the same time, we all experience moments when something happens in our lives that forces us to face intense challenges, and suddenly that resilience feels very far away. Maybe you feel less hopeful in those moments. Or something shifts in your trust — in yourself, in others, in the world around you, or in God. What might be preventing you from moving forward again, from living life to the fullest? What do you need to keep going with a hopeful outlook? I’d love to walk alongside you for a while, so you can gain clearer insight into the horizon, work on healing and growth, and set a new course.
Do you recognize this? If you want to take the space to start working on it—with hope, courage, and trust—you are very welcome. You can explore where you stand, gain clarity on what’s holding you back, and develop a clearer vision of where you want to go. Then, you can build the resilience to continue your journey. I can support you in this and would be happy to walk alongside you for a while.
Taste and Enjoy
Just as a giraffe stretches to reach the leaves high in the tree, we can focus on what we need each day. You too can stretch toward those fresh leaves, high in the acacia tree. Psalm 34:9 says: “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Like the giraffe, I want to taste that goodness — to experience who God is. Sometimes awkward, vulnerable, with knees bony and knobby, sometimes graceful, stretched out and longing; every day I try to taste and receive what God wants to give.
Would you like to do the same — to taste and experience how God’s goodness can be found in your life? A place to rest briefly in God’s presence, to discover and to grow.
Introduction
My name is Elisa van Egmond. Together with my husband Wouter, we have four wonderful, loving children aged 14 to 19. Over the past years, we’ve also regularly welcomed foster children, young people, or (international) students into our home.
Since 2021, I have been working at Practice Tembi, Coaching & Therapy. Prior to that, I worked as a journalist and language teacher. As a person, I enjoy genuine contact with people, good company, and deep conversations — warm and involved, open and authentic. I am also curious and creative, and I like to delve into the core of someone’s story. I love depth as well as lightness, with a touch of humor. My passion is to connect with people from heart to heart. Everyone has both beautiful, joyful melodies and deep, dark bass tones. I believe you can learn to better discover and appreciate this musicality in your life — so that all tones can be heard and you can let all facets of your personal musical piece resonate — your symphony.
As a child, I grew up partly in the Netherlands and partly in Asia. As a teenager, I dreamed of travel and meeting fascinating people in distant, remote places, with the goal of describing their life stories. After studying Journalism and Chinese, I worked for a few years as a journalist, briefly as a travel guide, and mainly in education, teaching English, Chinese, and Dutch as a second language (NT2). I have lived abroad for about 11 years and had the privilege of getting to know many wonderful, inspiring people. As a family, we have experienced both incredible and challenging times in Asia and Africa. Ten years ago, we settled back in the Netherlands, and I worked for a time with asylum seekers and as an NT2 language teacher for foreigners in Utrecht.
Throughout all my experiences and work, I have been especially curious about each person’s unique story and have enjoyed heart-to-heart connections. Since I can remember, I have been interested in what drives people and how someone can grow and develop — even when circumstances are less than ideal. The question of what a person needs to live resiliently has always fascinated me. Besides my love for writing and teaching, I followed my desire to contribute to people’s personal development and growth.
I decided to pursue my passion and began a four-year higher vocational training in Integrative Coaching & Therapy in 2020. Since 2021, I have been working as an independent integrative coach and in training as a therapist at Practice Tembi. I completed a training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). In 2025, I finished my training as a Psychosocial Therapist at De Roos Opleidingen.
During my studies, I learned how beautiful it is to look at others — and oneself —with openness and compassion. I learned to be more curious about the factors that contribute to growth and what hinders it. I find it valuable and important to face difficult problems with courage and resilience, so that you can focus more on what your heart longs for. In recent years, I have been privileged to help people take important steps towards a life of more wholeness, hope, and trust.
Having been on the other side myself, I understand how uncomfortable and difficult it can be to face your shadow sides and painful emotions. At the same time, I believe it is powerful when you no longer avoid these difficult things. The courage to confront challenging situations head-on and build relationships with loved ones creates space and freedom. Only then, when you have explored and accepted all parts of who you are, can you live in true connection — with yourself, and with others.
All in all, I am a grateful person. Besides my work as a coach and therapist, I love spending time outdoors with my family or friends — swimming in a lake or the sea, cycling, walking, kayaking, or camping. I enjoy wandering through old cities and can also deeply appreciate beautiful music or a good book, curled up on the couch with a cat. My greatest longing is to know the heart of God, just as we are fully known and loved by Him, and to see more of His kingdom of peace, joy, and hope become a reality.
Integrative, psychosocial coaching and therapy
Integrative, psychosocial coaching and therapy — this full phrase deserves a little explanation! The integrative approach assumes that the psychological, social, physical, and spiritual factors of a person influence each other and form a coherent whole. It recognizes that you are an integrated being — your mind, heart, soul, spirit, and body. The goal is healing and integration so that you can be in harmony with what you think, feel, need, and choose to do.
Integrative coaching and therapy is not just about talking about your emotions, needs and desires. You also learn to experience and feel more deeply, which helps you connect more effectively with what you long for. I draw on various therapeutic models, such as Schema Therapy, Contextual Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Transactional Analysis. Depending on your own learning style and preferences, we can work with different theoretical frameworks, attachment-focused models, or experiential interventions. Together, we explore what suits you best to address the questions and challenges that are current in your life. Your process is at the center — it’s not a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Gradually, you will discover and explore different puzzle pieces and how they fit together. As you piece the puzzle together, you gain more overview, insight, and control, leading to a new gained freedom.
You will learn to approach your own process with compassion, curiousness and openness. Because I have also been on the other side, I understand how uncomfortable it can be to face your pain and sense of incapacity. Based on everything I have learned and discovered myself, I can support you in gaining insight into the spectrum of your emotions, needs, desires, as well as your convictions and coping behaviors. You will learn to look at these with kindness, and then move beyond your coping strategies. This will help you take more responsibility for your choices in thinking and feeling, creating more space, freedom and joy in your life. You’ll also discover how to relate more kindly and authentically to the significant people in your life, and how to give and receive more genuinely in relationships and friendships.
Space and respect – The foundation of Practice Tembi is that there is space and respect for your opinions, your experiences, and your worldview. I align myself with this principle. You can expect that I will approach you with neutrality and openness. The sessions are focused entirely on you. In both private and professional settings, I am able to work well with people from all kinds of backgrounds and (faith) beliefs.
Due to my background and Christian worldview, it is also possible to incorporate the connection with God into the therapy, alongside the connection with yourself, the world, and others. For me, God is the source of my existence. He is my Creator, Guide, Father, and Friend. I see Jesus, as He himself says, as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. I have discovered that I am allowed to taste of God’s goodness and have experienced that I can find true peace in Him. My longing is to know the heart of God, just as we are fully known and loved by Him. If this resonates with you, I can also walk with you on this level. We can incorporate your faith, to the extent that you wish, into the coaching and therapy.
Outdoor or online sessions – Most sessions take place in the practice room. However, some sessions can also be conducted outdoors in nature; having a meaningful conversation during a walk through the woods. Walk-and-talk coaching is therefore also an option. It can be very beneficial to physically move and recharge in nature. This movement can create more space in your mind and heart, opening you up to new paths, new ways of thinking and feeling. The forest where we can walk is located opposite Practice Tembi.
When needed, for example if you do not live in the Netherlands, online sessions are also a great option. Your journey into deeper self-awareness is possible from behind a screen in your own home!

Working method
Are you longing for more resilience, a life grounded in connection with yourself and others, in harmony with your environment and the people around you? Whatever you desire or what your main theme may be — your wish is the starting point of your journey. With courage, kindness and curiosity, you can look further ahead, discover new perspectives, and work towards deeper connection within yourself and with others. You will learn how to move forward with hope and trust, toward greater wholeness and growth.
We begin with an intake. A personal connection is one of the most important ingredients for a meaningful conversation and forms the foundation for a successful coaching and therapy process. When we experience that alignment, we will work together. We will explore your questions and wishes, and set clear goals. Through conversations, exercises, interventions, and sometimes homework assignments, you will work towards achieving your goals. From day one, you are already on your way. Initially, we will discuss and agree upon a treatment plan. The number of sessions depends on your needs. Throughout the coaching and therapy process, we will evaluate what is needed and regularly adjust this together.
At Practice Tembi, you will gain more insight into who you are and who you can be, what you need during this phase of your life, and you will be able to take meaningful steps based on psychological insights and with the help of various therapeutic interventions. When you look at your character, behavior, and what you think, feel, and want with an open mind, you will acquire more tools to address underlying factors. You will learn how to recognize certain patterns and how to influence how you feel, what you think, and how you function. Ultimately, everyone benefits from a deeper integration of your psychological, social, spiritual, and physical dimensions — creating more unity and connection within who you are as a person. Welcome to Practice Tembi!
